I am very impressed with this jewelry box, given this price range. I've seen fairly shoddy builds in this same range. The fact is, at close to $100, you aren't going to get artisan craftsmanship. You know that. The next jump up in quality level will probably put you more in the $300 range, and if that isn't what you want to spend, I'd highly recommend this box (over others in the same price range). I chose this box initially because some of the others were just a bit gaudy, the floral inlays and carved feet were just not the gift recipient's style. I wanted something elegant but subtle that wouldn't stand out like a sore in the bedroom.The wood is quality and the finish is pleasant. The real sacrifice is on the joinery, and this definitely isn't a piece you want handled in a rough way, i.e. it's quite delicate. The hinges and other hardware are somewhat feeble, but where it lacks on this end, it makes up for in beautiful wood with a good finish. It will look great in any bedroom set that features natural wood to darker wood tones. The shipping packaging was excellent and my product arrived in perfect condition.A couple things to point out: there have been questions in the reviews about the box's color. It isn't the lighter oak color I saw in one poster's pictures, and it isn't cherry like I've seen in other comments. The official product photo makes it look more red than it is. It is a brown, like a medium warm walnut, getting closer to the darker walnut end. Very pleasant. It seems many of the other customer photos were taken with a flash, which is giving a wrong impression of the color. The photos I attached are taken in natural window light.The drawers themselves will not open without the top and side cabinets being opened first. And the whole box is about 11 inches tall, by just over a foot wide, and 8 inches deep. The drawers are roughly 1.5 inches in depth. The dividers in each drawer can be removed so you can customize how big or small you want the well sizes to be.At first I was concerned about the little metal rods that keep it closed. It requires a delicate touch to close it and lock it. However, most jewelry boxes are somewhat lightweight and I think meant for delicate handling. Overall, its a sturdy box. I bought it for my teenage daughter and I think she will like it, as I would like it if I were to receive itI I love it!When this item arrived, at first I was concerned that the doors did not stay shut on the sides. Then I noticed these two metal cyclinders. I realized that they give you the option to insert the cycliners which ends up securing the whole box so that the draws can accidentally slide open, or you can leave the cyclinders out which makes the box very free...meaning the side doors open and the draws are not "locked" by the doors. There is also a key which makes it extra secure and its one of those nice old fashioned looking keys. I thought these added design and construction features add to the box. I also think this is one the sturdiest, nicest, craftsman work I've seen. This is NOT a chintzy box. I'd recommend it as a gift...put some nice earrings or some fun bangles inside as an extra bonusValueThis is not only a great product, but the seller provided the best service I've ever had on Amazon! First, the jewelry box is absolutely beautiful and my wife loves it. It's made with high quality (very sturdy/solid feeling) and the wood and color are flawless. I can see this being in our family for a long time as it has that heirloom/vintage look and built well so it should last the test of time. I received one which had minor damage that likely occurred during shipping which can't be put on the seller. However, how the seller responded blew me away. I received an immediate response and they resolved the issue in a way that far exceeded my expectations and anything other sellers have done for me on Amazon (or anywhere else for that matter). I do a lot of shopping online so shipping damage is something that can't be avoided every time so for me the measure of a great seller/vendor is how they deal with it when it does and how quickly they get it fixed. This seller is top notch across the board!I looked at some of the negative reviews for this item and honestly have no idea what the other buyers were writing about... this is an attractive and fairly well put together jewelry box, with lots of room for just about anything you need to store in a jewelry box.
